Meadows is abuzz with the “Fossils” sculpture now located near the entrance of Mawson Green after artist Petre Petrov from Bulgaria was commissioned to undertake the sculpture in 2014 through the Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium.
Petrov said his sculpture gave the “idea of life” in a piece of stone stamped by the planet’s history.
Founded in 2011, the Adelaide Hills International Sculpture Symposium is an incorporated not for profit community based organisation formed to develop an exciting Arts initiative for the Adelaide Hills and South Australia. Internationally recognized sculptor and Adelaide Hills resident Silvio Apponyi had a vision to ‘Enrich the Hills with Sculpture’.
These works will leave an enduring legacy of culture for the communities and for visitors to the Adelaide Hills, delivering significant cultural, social, economic and tourism benefits for South Australia.
Devine is proud to have provided funding towards the sculpture along with the Battunga Country Tourism and many supporting donors.
Final landscaping works will be completed over the next month.
